The owner, Gerald Ward, is a master carpenter and a pilot. Wood is his passion. He believes since wood is a natural product, it makes people more comfortable and secure in their surroundings.
We have finished this remodel of this luxury Florida Keys home and below is a list of what we accomplished. We have decided to rent or lease to buy this Duck Key home. Please contact us for more information.
- Installed an interior elevator, making this Florida Keys home for sale handicap accessible.
- Installed solid wood hickory cabinets (all plywood construction instead of medium-density fiberboard which contains formaldehyde).
- Our counter top is 2" thick laminated character cherry, sanded to 400 grit (feels like marble) then 3 coats of spar varnish to protect the wood from everyday scratches.
- We placed a free standing island in the middle of the kitchen with the 2" thick laminated character cherry counter top but oiled it, so it can be used as a butcher's block.
- Updated the electric in the kitchen.
- We have replaced all the kitchen appliances. See the specifications for the white oven, black stove top, white dishwasher, and white refrigerator.
- Mahogany paneled walls in the large living room and kitchen. Mahogany is a natural decay and insect resistant wood.
- Installed custom cedar paneling on all ceiling and in the hallway. Cedar is a natural decay and insect resistant wood.
- We replaced the old fans with these interesting fans. The Artemis™ Mahogany with Mahogany Vanes are in the living room and kitchen. The Artemis™Maple with Maple Vanes are in the two bedrooms.
- The living room and kitchen overhead lighting can be pulled up or down.
- We built an entertainment center with bookshelves and room for a 52" television which can bolted to the articulating arm bracket-wall mount, already installed. You'll be able to rotate the television 75 degrees.
- We created a 3 piece custom douglas fir crown-molding for a beautiful transition from all the walls to the cedar ceilings. We also finished it with 3 coats of spar varnish.
- We painted the exterior a pretty tropical turquoise - like our beautiful Florida Keys waters.
